The video of an American student receiving a dose of vaccine against covid-19 went viral on the social network TikTok because it was administered to someone outside the priority population group.
The situation in question occurred in the North American city of Washington and already has more than 700 thousand views, according to news agency AFP.
A supermarket pharmacist realizing that she had two doses of the vaccine that were about to expire offered them to a law student and a friend.
“She turned to us and said: I have doses of the vaccine and I will have to throw them away if I don’t give them,” the student told NBC.
The vaccination campaign, which began in mid-December in the United States, is aimed at health professionals at this stage, according to the recommendations of the American authorities.
The young man thanked the pharmacist for his gesture and published the video on the social network TikTok, having had more than 733 thousand views so far.
“It is important, when there is so much misinformation out there, that people can see something good and positive. We must be excited to be able to fight the pandemic ”, he stressed.
The supermarket chain Giant, noted that the pharmaceutical company respected the guidelines of health authorities, since health professionals did not come to receive these doses.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 4.5 million people received the first dose of one of the vaccines for covid-19 in the United States.
Only vaccines developed by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna are authorized in the country so far.
The covid-19 pandemic caused at least 1,843,631 deaths resulting from more than 85 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a report made by the French agency AFP.
