Although there are huge controversies around TikTok, this social network continues to grow, to have more content and, now, new technologies. As can be already used, the social network added a new video effect with Augmented Reality for users with iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. This is because LiDAR technologies help to combine digital images into videos.
If you are a user with Apple’s top of the range, then enjoy the first series of “innovative effects” now.
TikTok takes advantage of LiDAR on the iPhone 12 Pro
TikTok is a social network with around 800 million users around it. It allows 15-second videos and has won over kids and adults. 2020 was a difficult year, given the American pressure on the interests of the Chinese company. However, the platform has not stopped growing and modernizing.
Now, users of Apple devices with a LiDAR scanner will use infrared light to accurately determine the distances between objects around the user. Thus, the system builds a 3D space map and programmers can then create digital objects that appear realistically alongside physical objects.
To ring in 2021 we released our first AR effect on the new iPhone 12 Pro, using LiDAR technology which allows us to create effects that interact with your environment - visually bridging the digital and physical worlds. Announced on TikTok Twitter feed, the new effect is not yet available worldwide. According to TechCrunch, some unidentified countries will not have the effect. So, to see if it is available, users can tap the plus sign of TikTok to start creating a video and choose Effects.
The new AR option will be on the New Effects tab of the TikTok app. In Portugal, from what we tested, it is available.
