THE Massive Entertaiment Ubisoft announced on Wednesday (13) the launch of a new game for Star Wars. According to Wired, game development is starting now and the studio is still recruiting for the new project.
In addition, the site also reports that The Division 2 and The Crew director Julian Gerighty will be the creative director. The game will possibly use the Snowdrop graphics engine, used in The Division 2.
“EA has been and will continue to be a strategic and important partner for us now and in the future,” according to Sean Shoptaw, vice president of global games and interactive experiences at Disney. “But we feel that there is room for others.”
“The Star Wars galaxy is an incredible source of motivation for our teams to innovate and expand the barriers of our media,” says Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. “Building new worlds, characters and stories that will become enduring pieces of the Star Wars universe is an incredible opportunity for us, and we are excited to have our Massive studio working closely with Lucasfilm Games to create an original Star Wars adventure that is unlike anything else it has been done before. ”
