In March of this year, Nioh 2 made its debut and managed to considerably improve the great experience offered by its predecessor. With that, the game ended up becoming a great success, with the specialized media and, more importantly, with the players.
However, it seems that Koei Tecmo, the company responsible for the franchise, is not interested in continuing the story (for now). Yeah! According to a report by the games director of the series, it seems that the players will be without any news related to Nioh for a long time… shall we understand this story?
Nioh goes on hiatus
It was in an interview with the famous Famitsu magazine (from Japan) that Fumihiko Yasuda, director of the Nioh franchise games, announced a break in any development process related to the series.
“At Team Ninja, Nioh’s development period, which lasted for seven years, will enter a rest period, and we have several projects that will go into full production in 2021 […] I plan to change my development style to match my new lifestyle, focusing on new titles. On a personal level, I will try not to put on weight anymore. ”
Not so long ago, Nioh 2 received its last DLC and, it seems, this will be the last news related to the franchise for a long time. With that, Koei Tecmo will end up with two big hits (Nioh and Ninja Gaiden) in the “fridge”.
Now, if we look on the bright side, Yasuda’s statement makes it clear that new projects are underway. Therefore, it may be that the future holds adventures as good as Nioh. Anyway, we have to keep an eye on Koei Tecmo’s movements. To the next…
