The US government has published a new “black list” of Chinese and Russian companies accused of having links to the armies of both countries. The decision, presented by the Department of Commerce on December 21, prevents the organizations in question from acquiring goods and technology from the United States.

Altogether, the list includes 103 organizations (58 Chinese and 45 Russian) and the Department of Commerce explains in a statement that more companies may eventually be added, through the analysis of the End-User Review Committee, the responsible government entity.

“The Department recognizes the importance of leveraging partnerships between the United States in international companies to combat attempts by China and Russia to divert US technology to their destabilizing military programs,” says Wilbur Ross, United States Secretary of Commerce United.

THE Reuters advances that China has already responded to the most recent decision by the United States government. At a recent press conference in Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin warned Washington to stop its “wrongdoing” and to treat all companies fairly.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce later issued a statement in which it firmly opposes the inclusion of Chinese companies on the list, also indicating that it will take all necessary measures to safeguard the rights and interests of the country’s organizations.

The publication comes at a time when the Donald Trump administration added a new “remittance” of 78 Chinese organizations to its “black list” of companies prevented from doing business with US companies and using technology produced in the United States.

DJI, the well-known Chinese drone manufacturer, is one of the companies targeted and has been placed on the list because it is an accomplice to “large-scale human rights abuses in China” through “high-tech surveillance” techniques, defended the Department of Trade.

Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC), the largest Chinese semiconductor manufacturer, also officially entered the United States’ “black list” on December 18 after an assessment by the Trump Administration. Apparently, the manufacturer could also be placed on the list of companies with links to the Chinese army.
