Today, Xiaomi has finally launched its new and highly anticipated flagship Mi 11 smartphone, the first on the market with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor.
But in addition, the Chinese brand also launched its MIUI 12.5. It is a lighter, very fast operating system that will easily integrate smartphones and computers. Let’s get to know the news better!
Xiaomi's MIUI 12.5 is here
Today was a great day for Xiaomi, with the launch of its new flagship Mi 11 and also the MIUI 12.5 operating system. According to the brand, this is a lighter, faster and even more economical system.
Lei Jun, CEO of the brand, spent a lot of time praising the elegance and simplicity of this operating system, thus captivating the attention and willingness of users to try it out. And the truth is that comparisons with Apple's iOS were more than many.
The interface was rewritten and the memory usage for the main tasks was reduced by 20%.
MIUI 12.5 individually optimizes system apps, and background memory usage has been reduced by an average of 35%. In addition, it also offers a lower energy consumption of around 25%. In short, with MIUI 12.5, the user can expect faster and better performance in terms of the autonomy and battery of his phone.
With this system, the user will have a greater chance of uninstalling apps, and those that cannot uninstall will be minimized from the desktop. In other words, basically only apps for settings, camera and calls are pre-installed and, therefore, there will be no other bloatware.
MIUI 12.5 brings a very interesting movement effect, a state specially built to respond quickly to gestures.
Better interaction between smartphone and computer
This new operating system will also facilitate the connection between phones and computers.
MIUI 12.5 can now be activated on laptops, allowing the user to view smartphone notifications via the computer, copy texts from the phone and paste them directly from the computer, take screenshots of the phone via the computer, view open web pages on the mobile device also from a computer, among others.
New, beautiful and stylish Wallpapers
Beauty and elegance are strong points in this system, which also offers new dynamic wallpapers inspired by China's natural landscapes.
One of the new wallpapers is called Snow Mountain and was captured through the main peak of Siguniang mountain in Sichuan. It has a 24h real-time rendering, namely changes in light, shadows and clouds.
But there are many more images to explore and, in addition, more super wallpapers are expected for the first half of 2021.
Notifications with natural sound
The details are very important for Xiaomi and, in this sense, the brand made a point of creating a natural sound for notifications, through a creation made in conjunction with sound artists from all over the globe.
The sound is characterized by having the four main habitats of the rainforest of South America, Australia, African pastures and the Arctic.
There are more than 120 animal sounds to be able to combine. The system also has a new sound effect from the system, also derived from natural elements.
MIUI 12.5 offers a natural touch and a slight vibration in the touch functionality. There is also a feature that will allow people with visual impairments to access information through a tactile design. This function will be available online on December 30th of this year.
Enhancing privacy protection
Another point in favor is that MIUI 12.5 strengthened the privacy protection barrier. To do this, it starts by indicating which apps are interfering with user data. The system registers all accesses of the apps and makes that registration available to the user.
According to Xiaomi, this is the first Android operating system to fully enable the sandbox mechanism. If it is necessary for the app to access confidential information, it will have to additionally request that access.
The same applies to browsers and MIUI 12.5 immediately bars pages that try to access private information. In addition, it blocks malicious downloads from web pages and has an Internet anti-tracking feature.
The Chinese brand adds that each app on the Xiaomi App Store will have its own privacy instructions. And the user will know, with transparency, what kind of information each app has access to.
More personalized reminders
Another novelty is the update that MIUI 12.5 makes to reminders. You added mental notes, you can write everything down easily and texts, links, photos, articles, ideas, etc. are easily added to the notes.
For now this is still just the beta version of MIUI 12.5.
