The tenders for the first phase of the 5G auction in Portugal continue and, on the fifth day reserved for new entrants and focused on the 1800 MHz and 900 MHz bands and, according to the latest data from Anacom, the value reached 77.265 million euros, once again surpassing what was hit the day before.
THE regulatory body advances thatin all, six rounds took place today. Regarding the lots in the 900 MHz band, only one was bid for 30 million euros, the same amount since the first round on 22 December 2020.
The bidding process has been intensified in the 1800 MHz band, whose value of the lots has almost quadrupled the initial price of 4 million euros. On the fifth day, three lots were auctioned for 15.755 million euros, totaling 47.265 million euros.
The value of bids in this first phase is increasing significantly after each round. It is recalled that, on the first day, bids exceeded 48 million euros. In the second and third days, it surpassed the 60 million mark, reaching the 70 million mark just yesterday.
According to the rules established by Anacom, the first phase will continue as long as there is interest and bids for the lots to be tendered. Only then will the general general phase take place, involving all stakeholders, including MEO, NOS and Vodafone. After the general bidding, consignment follows, with the geographic location of the lots won, and the allocation of rights to use the licenses.
Following the approval of the auction regulation, in November last year, the calendar for the 5G auction was updated and the procedures are expected to be completed during the first quarter of the new year.
